Field medicine is always exciting! Although it's true that “common things happen commonly”, you never really know what you're going to see, and you have to be ready to treat damn near anything and everything. On this day, I was seeing a fair amount of Malaria and some Typhoid and lots of foot fungus/trench foot! In my humble opinion, we could drastically improve the quality of life for much of humanity if we were able to implement clean/safe water programs the world over....Along with hygiene education and business/commerce programs that teach self sufficiency, not self-entitlement....hand up's, not handouts!!
Brain Stimulation = Serotonin levels are increased 210% without pharmaceutical enhancement! Hopefully this Police Department will continue to use this, and so will many others PS: Pharmaceuticals definitely have their place in medicine. No doubt they do. I was also the leading tackler on the JV football team and was given the nickname "Dr. Death".☠️ I remember that morning clearly. Class officer yearbook picture day....I was running WAAAAY late: Didn't shower, no breakfast, no contact lenses. Ran to school. Got there just in time for the pic with my VP, Treas & Sec. I took off my glasses, and TRIED to look as cool as the big puffy bags under my eyes, summer buzz cut awkwardly growing out with hair sticking up, skinny little arms & legs would allow me to be! Super #nerdalert 🤓🤓....It just goes to show you how big of a role HEART, HARD WORK, DETERMINATION & DESIRE play in our daily lives...OR DO NOT PLAY‼️✳️Never let ANYONE or ANYTHING keep you from showing up, accomplishing your goals & realizing your dreams! ✳️✳️The road to success is LITTERED with the BODIES of those who lacked the resiliency of HEART, MIND, BODY & SOUL...Motivate them to join you if they will....Smile and wave as you pass them if they don't. ANATOMY OF A BUD/S NIGHT DIVE......In numerical order from start to finish:
1. I got this shit! 2. We got this shit! 3. This is gonna be some awesome shit!....RIGHT?!. Then.....many many many many dark and wet hours later... 4. SHIT....GET US THE F OUTTA THESE RIGS! Lol..... ...I'm always asked: "What was the hardest thing you had to do at BUD/S?" My answer is always: SURVIVING THE SUCK! Meaning? You have to show up everyday with the a priori knowledge that things are always going to be worse than they were the day before...i.e., "The only easy day was yesterday!" Swims and Runs and O-Courses are faster, PT's are longer, harder and more intense. You are challenged academically, physically and psychologically. Each day, every instructor is looking for a way to bounce your ass from training. They take an oath to never allow shit-bags to make it through. Most students self abort (quit!) or are injured and removed, but some are driven out by the SEAL Instructors. By this, I mean they are damn near physically broken or placed under an electron microscope and 'safety violated' if found to be UNSAT in any number of ways . It's a TURD SAFETY NET!! This is why 90% of dudes, on average, DO NOT GRADUATE! The best way to make it through is to embrace the suck, learn to love it, improve everyday, and be ALL IN! Help your classmates (Teamwork!) and drink all of the coolaide you can. Remember: THOUSANDS have made it through....Roughly 17,000 to be more precise. So, if you passed the screening test and made it through the prep and were actually sent there, you have EVERYTHING you need, within you, to make it through. Keep that in mind and simply SURVIVE THE SUCK! |
